American Plastic Toys: made in Kentucky, with a few imported parts
American Plastic Toys says every toy in its catalog is engineered, molded and assembled in Kentucky, and its FAQ says the imported share is small and specific: under four percent of toy value content, mostly sound components and fasteners, found in under nine percent of its line.[1][3][4]
Facts on this page come from the maker's own site or the FTC, each with a numbered source; sections marked “Our reading” are our interpretation. We haven't audited the maker or seen its supplier records, and nothing here is a finding that any product meets the FTC's standard. See what “Made in USA” means.
What the maker says is made in the USA
- Every toy in its catalog is engineered, molded and assembled in Kentucky.[1]
- All its toys are manufactured in the US, with plastic and colorant bought domestically.[5]
What it says is made elsewhere
- Less than four percent of toy value content is imported, mostly sound components and fasteners.[3]
- Toys with any imported component are less than nine percent of the product line.[4]
Where: places the maker names
| Place | What it is, in the maker's words |
|---|---|
| Kentucky | Engineering, molding and assembly (town not named on the pages we read)[1] |
| Michigan | Where the company was founded (not stated as a current plant)[2] |
What's unresolved or limited
- The About page says the company joined the Gracious Living brand in 2026; the FAQ doesn't mention Kentucky. The two pages may have been written at different times.[6]
- An earlier version of our card said “four plants in Michigan and Mississippi”. We couldn't find that on the maker's pages and replaced it with the maker's current wording.
- The FAQ doesn't name which toys contain imported parts.
What this means when you buy
The FAQ gives figures for the whole product line, not a breakdown for individual toys, so a feature such as sound doesn't by itself tell you a toy's domestic content. If it matters for a specific toy, ask the maker which of its components are imported.
A company's state of founding is not where its toys are made today; this maker's own pages show the difference.
